I would like to meet with you next Monday if possible, before or after class. The issues I have are too much material, quotes, and how to integrate the other criticisms into my work, whether they are done in a separate section or throughout the document, or does it matter? Anyway, I think I have the body of my paper in rough shape and will appreciate any comments from you.

Truth can become "a web of competing truths". How true. But it can also be outright fabrication. What is the truth about the Alamo? Why are there such variant versions? A lot of tradition and honor rides on that one. If not fabrication, truth can simply be based on personal or community choice. Which "truth" is more convenient or acceptable?
My father-in-law used to say: "El que gana la batalla escribe la historia."
When reading last Spring about Cabeza de Vaca and his journey across Texas, I learned that he likely didn't actually cross Texas at all, but rather crossed northern Mexico after following the Gulf coast south. So, why did earlier Texas historians pick and choose evidence to show a fully Texas route? Maybe it just made a better story?? Certainly it is necessary to read history with a critical mind, always bearing in mind that there is a perspective and maybe even an agenda.
It may sound like I distrust history. Actually I prefer math. Kidding aside, history is most fascinating through first-hand accounts.
